Four Walls

by David Paris

Walls surround him from all four sides
Stuck inside, there’s a window, but it’s covered with blinds
A dim light occasionally peeks through as he dreams of a brighter future
But his imagination holds him captive, as he is nothing but a loser
Life wasted away by the poor decisions of youth that unveiled the truth
Mischievous activity that led to self pity
Substance to numb the pain from the mistakes that have been made
But it’s all useless

The two kids walk into a bank
Guns flashed followed by a bang bang
The bodies hit the floor, two of them will forever remain fallen
Sirens sing as the two friends surrender
Sentenced for life
In his cell he will remain
Surrounded by walls from all four sides
